New Year, New Entryway:

Our Entryway DIY

There’s something so satisfying about a project that completely transforms a space without completely draining your wallet. My entryway has been a blank slate since I moved in. Every time I walked through the door I always envisioned a cozy inviting space and finally decided to make it happen. I really love a DIY home project and teaching myself new things. I’m so lucky that my brother and Jax are both really handy and always willing to help me with my ideas. This project truly made the space feel so much more welcoming, and also added a lot of much needed functionality. I shared a full video breakdown HERE if you’d like to see, but also am breaking down everything I bought for the project and how I broke down my time. Realistically I think this could be done in one day if you had all of the materials and a full day to complete it, but it was also easy to break down into a few days for added convenience.

Below is a full breakdown of the process, costs, and time involved so you can decide if a similar project makes sense for your own home. I can’t imagine my home without the space now and hope you all love the result!

The Vision

When I start a new home project, I never jump in without a clear idea of what I want the space to feel and look like. For this project I used Pinterest for a lot of inspiration and watched countless videos of people handing bead board in their homes so I knew exactly what I liked and didn’t like. Here were my overall goals for the space going into the project:

  • Elevated but functional
  • Warm and welcoming
  • Durable enough for everyday use

Final Thoughts & Shoppable Links!

This project really gave me a lot more confidence about bigger DIY projects at the house. It was relatively inexpensive and looks so elevated. By mixing owned pieces with new materials and doing the labor ourselves, we were able to create a space that feels custom and high-end for under $400 out of pocket. Also would highly recommend buying anything you love at estate sales or thrifting- it always finds a way of working itself perfectly into a space!

If you’re considering an entryway refresh, this is one of those projects where a little effort goes a long way and the payoff is immediate every time you walk through the door.
