As much as I hate to admit it, I’m an over-packer. I really wish I was the type of person to throw a few things in a backpack and go, but I’m the type to strategically pack everything I can fit in my suitcase. Traveling has been something I’ve enjoyed for years, and after packing and unpacking many suitcases I finally feel like I have it down to a science. Today I’m sharing some of my tips for packing as well as what I’m packing for spring break this year. I can’t wait to spend some time in the sunshine and share all of these outfits! I’m also going to link some of my favorite travel items like suitcases, packing cubes, makeup bags, etc!
I like to always divide my packing into a few groups: clothing, makeup/ beauty products, accessories / shoes, and undergarments. I find that attacking one category at a time helps me ensure I have everything I need. I’m going to divide this post up by each category and share products I use when I pack along the way.
Luggage I love:
First up, let’s talk clothing. This is where I tend to bring WAY too many things- I like to have options! A way that I try to consolidate what I’m bringing is to plan out outfits prior to the trip. Not only is this useful for packing, but it’s also a great way to make getting ready on the trip easy. I try to plan everything down to undergarments and accessories so I ensure I pack everything I need. Nothing worse than having a cute dress to wear but forgetting the right bra! In order to keep things organized I’ll normally take a quick mirror selfie in each outfit to reference when I’m on the trip.
When packing all of the clothes into a suitcase I always use packing cubes and roll my clothes. Rolling everything not only saves space, but I find it reduces wrinkles as well. There are a few pieces that tend to be bulkier to roll (like jeans), so I will just lay those in my suitcase as flat as possible before putting the packing cube on top. I also love to use packing cubes to organize clean vs. dirty clothes on the trip so I can easily do laundry when I get home. For items that do end up with some wrinkles, I bring my trusty travel steamer from Amazon for a quick fix! I’m linking some of my favorite packing cubes and my travel steamer below:
When it comes to accessories and footwear I always make sure to pack versatile items that can be worn over and over again. I always bring my basic jewelry and then some fun statement pieces that I’ve styled with a few outfits. To pack my jewelry I’ll use one of the travel cases I linked below from Mark & Graham. They keep things protected and organized! For footwear I tend to wear my bulkiest pair of shoes on the plane and then pack a few other versatile options. The packing cube set I linked above also has a footwear bag to use which is great to keep things clean and organized. If I’m heading somewhere warm and bringing a sun hat I will normally bring this on the plane also, and have been dying to purchase a magnetic hat holder for the exterior of my bag- linking all of these fun items below:
I have found so many great items on Amazon that make packing my makeup and beauty products very organized. I bring my Dyson Airdrop on trips typically and found the perfect travel case on Amazon to keep everything consolidated and organized. I like to bring my makeup bag in my carry on and use another cosmetics bag for hair products, deodorant, etc. Scout bags makes really durable makeup bags that are great for this! Linking all of the products I mentioned:
I save the zippered pockets in my suitcase for undergarments! As mentioned previously, I always make sure to try-on outfits so I have the perfect undergarment packed for each look. Having them in the zippered pocket makes them easy to access!
I always like to bring a portable charger when I travel! My boyfriends dad got me one a few years ago and I haven’t gone on a trip without it. It’s so convenient for a travel day or a busy day on vacation. I also recently got an Air Tag to keep in my suitcase to make sure I can always track it. I’ve had suitcases lost for a few days before and it gives me peace of mind to be able to track it! Linking these items below:
I hope these tips and products help you pack like a pro on your next trip! Here’s what I’m bringing on my spring break trip:
